  1.  Disability Discrimination happens when an employer covered by the Americans with Disabilities Act, as amended, or the Rehabilitation Act, as amended, treats an employee or job applicant unfavorably because he has a history of disability or he is believed to have a mental or physical impairment that isn’t transitory or minor.
  1.  Equal Pay/Compensation Discrimination is covered by the Equal Pay Act, which essentially says that men and women doing substantially the same work must be paid the same salary, bonuses, overtime pay, profit sharing, stock options and more.
  1.  Genetic Information Discrimination is unfavorable treatment of an employee or applicant based on genetic information, like the results of genetic testing, family medical history and the use of genetic counseling.  This type of discrimination is illegal under Title II of the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008 (GINA).
  1.  Harassment Discrimination is severe and pervasive conduct that creates a hostile or intimidating work environment.  It involves harassment based on a variety of factors including race, religion, sex, age and disability.
  1.  National Origin Discrimination involves the unfavorable treatment of employees or job applicants based on their country of origin, their ethnicity or their accent.
  1.  Pregnancy Discrimination involves treating a female employee unfairly based on pregnancy, childbirth or any medical conditions arising from pregnancy or childbirth.
  1.  Race/Color Discrimination arises when an employee is treated unfairly because of their skin color or other characteristics associated with specific races like hair texture and facial features.
  1.  Religion Discrimination is the unfavorable treatment of an employee based on his religious beliefs, even for those who hold non-traditional religious, ethical or moral beliefs.
  1. Retaliation Discrimination is harassment of an employee who has previously filed a discrimination complaint against an employer.
  1. Sex Discrimination is the unfavorable treatment of an employee based on their sex or their gender identity, including transgender status.
